Before its closure, GWC was working with refugees in Calais’ Jungle. In 2016, after a year and a half of continual support, we were eventually able to bring 7 Syrian teenagers to the UK. These boys had in the most part lost everything. An unfathomable situation for most of us.
Since that time we have been trying to bring back a sense of normality to the boys, all of whom are understandably scarred in many ways from what they have experienced. GWC is helping to try and return a sense of positivity and purpose back into their lives.
Organising a weekly football match may sound like a small gesture, but your contributions to events such as this go a long way. On a weekly basis, GWC are providing:
- Football matches
- Lunch/dinner with a mentors
- Integration and advice support
- Employment Advice
Your donations ensure that the young refugees that have come to the UK are given the support they need to get back on their feet and feel like a valuable part of society, and the money you raise will allow us to continue running this important service.
